Business Analyst
The University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to support the Workday Enterprise Solutions Team (WEST). This role involves leading complex data analysis, providing strategic ERP insights to leadership, and guiding lower-level staff in the design and implementation of business information systems.

Responsibilities
Lead and conduct complex data analysis to ensure data management objectives are met and recommend improvements
Serve as a strategic ERP advisor to leadership, offering insights and recommendations on system capabilities and optimizations
Formulate and define systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with a strong understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements
Lead and facilitate requirements gathering sessions with key stakeholders and subject matter experts, ensuring alignment with business goals
Drive the design and modification of complex business information systems, document requirements, and resolve system logic challenges
Identify, recommend, and implement programs and solutions to meet business objectives while balancing cost, performance, and resource constraints
Write and present detailed reports and documentation that support business decision-making and drive operational improvements
Work on tasks including project or functional requirements, functional/technical design, configuration, testing, and process documentation
Identify change impacts or training needs
Provide leadership and mentorship to lower level staff, guiding them through complex tasks and projects
Support and triage end-user issues, ensuring a seamless user experience and prompt resolution of any system-related challenges
Serves as a project lead for lower level IT staff providing guidance on specific project goals, outcomes, and technological components
Performs complex data analyses and reporting
Maintains system configuration, performs testing, supports end users and follows WEST team standards
Provides guidance to lower level staff in the design, development, and implementation of data reporting and business intelligence systems
Develops and assesses opportunities for new unit staff training opportunities
Makes recommendations in the selection of technology solutions to align with business strategies
Provides direction for the mapping of business processes using advanced process-mapping methodologies
Provides advanced procedural and technical guidance to unit staff regarding technology usage and management
Designs, develops, and implements complex data reporting and business intelligence systems
Serves as a subject matter expert to institutional and unit leadership on critical technology issues
Qualification
Required
Demonstrated experience analyzing complex business processes, requirements gathering, and developing business solutions
Ability to perform complex data analysis
Attention to detail with the ability to synthesize data and information into presentations and materials
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels
Knowledge of methods to analyze business needs and recommend relevant solutions including policy, process, or system improvements
Preferred
5+ years experience as a Business Analyst with progressively increasing responsibilities, or 3+ years experience supporting Workday as a Business Analyst
Experience supporting technical teams in Finance, HCM areas
Experience working in a higher education setting
Experience working with ERP systems
Experience administering or configuring Workday
