Sealaska is the Alaska Native regional corporation for Southeast Alaska, and they are seeking a Communications Intern for the summer of 2026. The intern will support the communications team in content development, storytelling, and social media analysis while gaining valuable experience in the field.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with communications team to develop content strategy
Learn Sealaska’s brand, tone, and company vision in order to implement marketing and promote Sealaska’s story
Maintain cooperative relationships with representatives of the Sealaska community, including consumers, employees, or interest groups
Engage with internal and external sources for marketing content
Edit or rewrite existing copy as necessary and submit copy for approval by supervisor
Vary language and tone of messages based on audience and medium
Support maintenance, updates, and content changes to the current Sealaska website in collaboration with the communications team
Write print and digital content for newsletters, website, and social media platforms
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Able to both collaborate with a team and work independently
Ability to meet deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Studying communications, journalism, business, or marketing
Must be 18 years old at time of hire
Must be a Sealaska shareholder, descendant of a shareholder, or spouse of a shareholder
Must be currently enrolled in post-secondary school/program or a recent graduate (1-2 years)
Legally authorized to work in the United States

Preferred

At least a 2.5 GPA
Strong critical thinking and research skills
Self-starter with ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment
Ability to travel as needed
Website development or website content management experience preferred
