Senior Civil Engineer - Water (Kansas City)
Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to add to our Water Global Practice. The Senior Civil Engineer will lead civil design project teams for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of projects including water treatment facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, and pump/lift station facilities.

Responsibilities
Lead/Oversee civil design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion and construction
Lead/Oversee site layout, grading, and stormwater management designs
Lead/Oversee yard piping design
Lead/Oversee site development related permitting documentation, including land disturbance, floodplain development, and water/wastewater utility connections. Support other permitting efforts including US Corps of Engineers and roadway entities
Effectively collaborate with other engineering disciplines
Apply knowledge of commonly used civil concepts, practices, codes and procedures within the civil engineering services industry. Apply knowledge and experience to complex projects, develops innovative design solutions to optimize safety, schedule, and profitability
Compile studies and reports
Write construction specifications
Perform quality review of production drawings, AutoCAD Civil 3D grading models/pipe networks, and construction specifications to verify design compliance with project, client, and industry standards, including constructability
Perform construction administration including submittal reviews, responses to requests for information, and interfacing with field personnel to resolve design related construction issues
Present designs and proposals to clients, contractors, and permitting authorities
Provide leadership, guidance, mentorship, and instruction to less experienced civil engineers
Participate in development of project schedule, scope, budget, and construction planning
Qualification
Required
Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 7 years civil engineering experience
Bachelor Degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 7 years civil engineering experience
Master Degree in Civil Engineering and 6 years civil engineering experience
Extensive knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members
Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills
Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications
Ability to travel
Preferred
Design Build project experience
Experience with other design software (e.g. Navisworks, BIM (Revit), and/or hydraulic and hydrologic (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, CivilStorm, etc.), vehicle turning, pavement and civil analysis programs)
Professional Engineer (PE) License
