Seattle Parks & Recreation - Teen Late Night Internship
The City of Seattle is a leader in providing public spaces and programs through Seattle Parks and Recreation. They are seeking a Teen Late Night Intern to assist with program operations, community outreach, and event facilitation while gaining hands-on work experience and leadership development.

Responsibilities
Distribute and post marketing materials within community centers, teen life centers, and the surrounding neighborhood to increase program awareness
Assist in promoting Teen Late Night events to ensure participation and engagement
Greet participants and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment
Manage participant sign-ins and provide detailed program information to attendees
Dinner set-up and service
Assist with arranging tables, chairs, and serving stations during dinner hour
Serve meals to participants and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and order
Help break down and clean up after meals to ensure a tidy environment
Accurately track and record scores during Late Night basketball games
Collaborate with referees and facilitators to ensure smooth game operations and fair play
Facilitate small group discussions or one-on-one check-ins with peers
Create a safe and supportive space for participants to share thoughts, concerns, and ideas
Qualification
Required
Minimum age of 15, max age of 17 on February 17, 2026
Must be enrolled in an accredited high school program
Must have either completed the Youth Leadership Committee or volunteered 40 hours with the committee
Communication & Interpersonal Skills Ability to engage with peers, staff, and community members in a positive and professional manner. Strong verbal and written communication skills for assisting with sign-ins, outreach, and peer check-ins
Leadership & Teamwork Willingness to take initiative and demonstrate leadership in assigned tasks. Ability to work collaboratively with fellow interns, program staff, and community partners
Preferred
Event Planning & Coordination Experience helping organize community events, youth activities, or school functions. Ability to assist in scheduling, setting up, and promoting Late Night activities
Social Media & Marketing Familiarity with platforms like Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook to help promote events. Basic graphic design or video editing skills for creating flyers or digital content
Public Speaking & Facilitation Confidence in speaking in front of groups or leading small discussions. Experience facilitating group activities, workshops, or peer mentorship sessions
Coaching or Sports Management Interest in sports, fitness, or refereeing to assist with basketball games. Experience keeping score or supporting athletic programs
Creative Arts & Programming Skills in music, dance, photography, or visual arts to contribute to program activities. Interest in arts and crafts or creative projects for community engagement
Customer Service & Conflict Mediation Experience In Retail, Food Service, Or Other Customer-facing Roles. Ability to help resolve minor disputes and maintain a positive environment
Multilingual Abilities Fluency in a language other than English (e.g., Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese, etc.) to assist diverse participants. Basic translation or interpretation skills for community outreach
Computer & Administrative Skills Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Docs, or database entry. Experience handling registration forms, sign-ins, or attendance tracking
