License and Revenue Coordinator

NEOGOV is seeking a License and Revenue Coordinator for the City of Foley. This role is responsible for managing the City’s business license administration, ensuring compliance with revenue laws, and overseeing the processing of business licenses and related tax collections.

Responsibilities

Manages and administers all aspects of the City’s business license program, including processing applications, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, issuing licenses, maintaining records, and responding to inquiries, with general guidance from the supervisor
Communicates and corresponds (via phone, email, letter, face-to-face, etc.) with business owners/representatives and various departments/municipalities regarding applicable tax and revenue issues to ensure accurate notification and compliance
Calculates, collects, and verifies applicable tax and revenue (i.e., business license, special events, cigarette tax, lodging tax, liquor tax, beer/wine tax, rental tax, sales tax, consumer use tax, seller's use tax, gasoline tax, project user fees, and sanitation)
Enforces state, county, and/or city laws concerning revenue to ensure business compliance. Establishes protocol for enforcement measures based upon business license ordinance. Actively seeks unlicensed businesses for compliance
Inspects businesses to determine business classification and if proper licenses are displayed
Participates in license revocations and works with other departments during the process
Responsible for ensuring adequate personnel are covered for the reception desk and revenue window
Reconciles daily deposits from all departments
Compiles reports and lists of active business licenses for the public and other departments as needed
Assists with the preparation of yearly business license renewals
Works with the Revenue Director to implement new policies and procedures for the Revenue Department and deposits from other departments
Troubleshoots software issues for the licensing software and ensures letters and correspondence within the software are current with minimum oversight
Stays abreast of tax laws and/or maintains certifications and advises others (e.g., subordinates, management, boards, committees, state and federal entities) about changes in law as it pertains to business licensing
Assists and educates business owners regarding the applicable tax laws to ensure compliance
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree and five (5) years of experience in a job related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Valid Driver's License is required
Alabama Municipal Revenue Officer Certification is required

The City's group insurance is currently through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama.
The employees’ health, vision, hearing and dental premiums are paid in full by the City.
The City pays 50% of family coverage.
The employee cost for family health, vision and hearing is $67.47 per semi-monthly deduction cycle and dental is $10.00 per semi-monthly deduction cycle.
The total monthly cost for family health and dental coverage is $154.94.
