Engine Harness Development Engineer

Responsibilities

Responsible for the design, prototype, and documentation of engine, transmission, and electrified powertrain wiring harnesses
Organizing and overseeing the build of harnesses (both in-house and outsourced to a supplier)
Checking for errors, verifying operation, controlling inventory, diagnosing/troubleshooting issues in the field, and ensuring corrective actions are made when necessary
Reading and interpreting device transmittal information to efficiently design wiring harnesses for dynamometer testing
Interfacing with a network of product development engineers to gather required electrical information
Working with technicians and third-party suppliers to ensure harnesses are built to specification
Documenting designs and maintaining the drawing database

Required

Bachelor degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, or Aeronautical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
2+ years of relevant work experience
Strong background and hands-on experience in wiring requirements such as current, voltage, and electrical noise mitigation (proper grounding, shielding, twisted wiring)
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
Ability to guide technicians with work orders and direction for repairing / modifying wire harnesses
Experience using MS Office and/or Google Suite applications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
100% onsite position
No driving of a vehicle required

Preferred

Masters degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, or Aeronautical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
5+ years of relevant work experience
Experience in automotive and instrumentation wiring as well as experience with data acquisition systems and dynamometer operations
Experience with wiring and operation of battery electric and hybrid electric powertrain system
Experience with the repair / assembly of vehicles, engines, transmissions, etc
