Responsibilities
Build, mentor, and support an Applications Engineering team (initially five direct reports) with clear goals and growth paths
Translate the voice of the customer into differentiating AE capabilities that strengthen the sales process
Drive continuous improvement through seminars, training, and on‑the‑job development
Oversee creation of part processes and accurate cycle time estimates
Manage turnkey system projects, collaborating with our national project management organization on major efforts
Contribute to fixture and tooling design decisions for robust, repeatable outcomes
Prepare concise reports for management and specific project requirements
Partner with Service and Sales to consistently exceed customer expectations
Develop and manage revenue streams tied to engineering activities
Coordinate training for customers and Ellison engineers; deliver technical support by phone and onsite
Steward customer relationships and organize machine demonstrations at Ellison facilities and trade shows
Build strong relationships with builders, suppliers, and vendors
Evaluate, use, and recommend CAD/CAM software systems
Maintain thorough records of customer issues and support requests
Jump in with enthusiasm on related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Leadership mindset centered on coaching, developing others, and creating followership
Hands‑on technical breadth and the ability to teach what you know
Strong fluency programming CNC lathes and machining centers, including 5‑axis applications
Attention to detail, bias for action, and a passion for helping customers improve operations
