Departmental Technician - Filing, Disclosure & Compliance
The State of Michigan is seeking a Departmental Technician for Filing, Disclosure & Compliance. This role is responsible for processing filings for candidates running for office, assisting with election night reporting, and training staff involved in these operations.

Responsibilities
Assisting and processing individuals’ filings to run for office as well as assisting groups placing questions on the ballot for voter approval
Following Michigan Election Law and other statutes in evaluating affidavits and candidate petitions, as well as petitions for initiated laws and statewide constitutional amendments for potential placement on the ballot for voter approval
Supporting staff with election night reporting
Assisting county clerks in the completion of the county canvass and coordinating with staff on the State canvass
Processing general filings, mailings, payments & reports for the Division
Training individuals assisting in these operations, including temporary contract workers and other staff
Updating training materials, forms, guides and other instructional materials
Qualification
Required
Education typically acquired through completion of high school
Departmental Technician 7: One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service
Departmental Technician 8: One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service
OR One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service
Departmental Technician E9: One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service
OR One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service
OR Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service

Possession of a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the experience requirement for Departmental Technician 8
Possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement for Departmental Technician E9
