Mortgage Foreclosure & Bankruptcy Specialist

Responsibilities

Monitors foreclosure & bankruptcy actions to ensure full compliance with investor guidelines, with heavy emphasis on Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA and USDA protocols along with state/federal regulatory guidelines
Understands the different legal processes (judicial vs. non-judicial) to foreclose in our various states
Maintains foreclosure caseload and works all tasks, processes, events, issues, re-projections and holds are updated within the required deadlines
Provides clear verbal/written communication and timely responses with attorneys, trustees and investors
Manages vendor and attorney networks
Monitors and manages foreclosure & bankruptcy exception reports
Completes special projects on an as needed basis
Provides assistance to management in audits and loan level reviews
Coordinates with other departments to minimize losses and mitigate risk
Identifies quality compliance issues as they arise and provides the appropriate feedback to management
Coaches and provides on the job training for new hire peers within the foreclosure & bankruptcy department
Understands mortgage loan servicing and the default, foreclosure, bankruptcy and loss mitigation processes
Provide support to local and outside counsel to review and comment on court documents, assist in resolution of litigation matters and attorney inquiries, and consult with counsel on escalated borrower issues received by management
Coordinate and attend depositions, mediations, and trial date appearances with counsel
Promptly refer bankruptcy loans to the outside counsel to initiate the filing of a proof of claim, objection to plan, motion for relief, transfer of claims, and other bankruptcy-related actions
Verify/research borrower payment history and resolves payment posting discrepancies (i.e. Ledger Balancing) and ensure the company's system of record is updated accordingly
Maintains bankruptcy caseload and works all tasks, processes, events, issues, re-projections and holds are updated within the required deadlines
Perform other related duties as required and assigned
Demonstrate behaviors which are aligned with the organization’s desired culture and values
Perform the job in accordance with applicable industry laws and regulations as well as the policies and procedures established by the company
Responsible for upholding Fair and Responsible Banking practices and Code of Ethics and Conduct guidelines
Understand and participate in the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act program

Required

Experience working in foreclosure and bankruptcy, and state/federal regulatory guidelines
Understands the different legal processes (judicial vs. non-judicial) to foreclose in our various states
Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with borrower, clients, attorneys, other internal employees, and outside parties
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, committed to providing exceptional customer service
Experience and knowledge to manage both the foreclosure and bankruptcy processes in a 'cradle to grave' format

Preferred

Experience with loan servicing system MSP and PACER is preferred
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be committed to providing exceptional customer service
Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with borrower, clients, attorneys, other internal employees, and outside parties
Must be able to work with others
Must possess exceptional organizational skills
Attention to detail is a must
High-level proficiency in MS Office suite
Proficiency in internet research activities
