Lab Technician

They are seeking a Lab Technician to support their Research and Development team by preparing samples, conducting laboratory testing, and maintaining equipment to aid in product development and innovation.

Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment. Ensure that work areas are kept clean and organized at all times. Follow all testing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols
Prepare samples for testing. This may involve cutting, weighing, measuring, mixing, blending, or assembling
Conduct testing on a variety of materials to evaluate their chemical and physical properties, as well as performance and durability. Testing includes softening point, flash point, penetration, viscosities, FTIR, DSR, etc
Accurately collect and report results with the ability to use critical thinking to recognize and respond to unexpected test results, errors, and/or discrepancies
Collaborate with R&D scientists on formulation, development, and testing of asphalt blends
Communicate experimental results, observations, and project updates effectively with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Asphalt Processing, New Product Development, Innovation, and Manufacturing
Demonstrate initiative as a self-starter who can work independently as well as part of a team. Show an eagerness to learn new testing methods, equipment, and technologies to support ongoing research and development efforts

Required

Bachelor's degree in science related field, or equivalent experience preferred
Hands-on laboratory experience is preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, OneNote, etc.)
Strong attention to detail, with a focus on maintaining a clean and organized workspace
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and take initiative in a dynamic lab environment
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; able to recognize anomalies, troubleshoot, and ask questions when needed
Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
Eager to learn new methods and technologies; demonstrates the ability to learn quickly and adapt to change
Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners
