Lead Clinical Data Specialist Cardiovascular RN

Responsibilities
Accountable for the retrieval of specific cardiac and vascular data from the medical record according to established data set criteria
Questions and follows up on variations in data utilizing clinical reasoning skills
Tabulates, reports, and displays results using computer applications from various databases included in the Apollo software application
Validates clinical data parameters based on accepted American College of Cardiology, Society of Thoracic Surgery, and the Northern New England Database guidelines and definitions. Exports organizational data to the regional database NNE, and to the national databases ACC and STS, in a timely manner meeting deadline requirements for submission according to established policies to ensure confidentiality and integrity of the data
Demonstrates extensive knowledge and understanding of database software supported system and key departments that use the system. Maintains application software, tests and validates all software upgrades as required in collaboration with Information Systems liaison to cardiac services. Participates in the development of test related policies and procedures related to cardiac services’ databases
Collaborates and provides outcome reports to the Cardiac Quality Council and the Quality Management Committee
Monitors information gleaned from new technology practice and trends in outcomes assessments
Validates, maintains, and reports the mandated CMS ICD Registry
Participates in research, project design, and collection and summarization of data as assigned
Ensures confidentiality and integrity of established policies and procedures regarding data and system security including but not limited to Catholic Medical Center, departmental, Joint Commission, HIPAA, NH State and federal rules and regulations. Maintains appropriate documentation related to these requirements
Maintains confidentiality of employee, legal, budget, Catholic Medical Center and New England Heart Institute matters. Maintains good communications; establishes and maintains positive working relationships with employees, regulatory agencies, and vendors
Assists in the investigation, development, and implementation of new programs with New England Heart Institute
Assists in the evaluation of designated continuous quality improvement follow-up within designated New England Heart Institute areas
Collaborates with organization clinical departments to assist with quality improvement projects
Participates in department strategy planning process for the attainment of organization initiatives
Participates in programs/projects which facilitate the attainment of organization goals
Performs similar or related duties as requested
Participates in appropriate role in departmental disasters, fire drills, fires and other emergency situations. Contributes to maintaining a safe and clean work environment
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree
Preferred
1 year experience with clinical data collection and validation
