Software Engineer Intern
Viasat is a company on a mission to deliver connections that change the world. They are seeking a Software Engineer Intern to help shape a new IFF test certification tool and develop Python-based software for aviation customers.

Responsibilities
You will work closely with us to interpret industry requirements, their implications for our customers, and the best way to implement a test tool that satisfies those requirements
You’ll play a key role in shaping a new IFF test certification tool for DoD, commercial, and civilian aviation customers
Working closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will design and develop Python-based software that interfaces with an AIMS‑certified RF environment generator
You’ll gain hands‑on experience with test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and other RF instruments to debug real‑world signals
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering, or related field
Final graduation date must fall between December 2026 and August 2027
Must be available to work 40 hours/week for the full duration of the internship program
U.S. citizenship required
Proficient in Python
Working knowledge in object-oriented programming (C++, Java)
Working knowledge in C
Some high-level familiarity with embedded systems
Comfort reading and writing formal documentation
Preferred
Familiarity with RF concepts
Familiarity with test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer etc)
Understanding of interactive/memory debugging tools (ex GDB)
