NDE Specialist, Eddy Current (Starship) - Level III
SpaceX is actively developing technologies for space exploration with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. The NDE Specialist will be responsible for training, equipment reliability, technique rollout, and process improvements within the NDE Operations team, focusing on Eddy Current methods.

Responsibilities
Perform inspections on flight and GSE hardware
Interpret, evaluate, communicate, and report findings to production and engineering
Interpret and review engineering drawings as required
Continuously improve the safety and reliability of the operations environment
Own the improvement and execution of the training program for the relevant method
Operate as the first point of contact for technique-based questions from inspectors and engineering
Work with engineering (design, NDE, and manufacturing) on process improvements including descopes, inspection reliability evaluation/improvement, and rollout of development projects
Own the equipment reliability strategy and execution for the relevant method
Perform technical interviews of NDE Inspector candidates
Develop and maintain relationships with key external vendors
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalency certificate
Level III ASNT/NAS-410 in Eddy Current (ET)
Must be able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist
Must be willing to work overtime and on weekends if needed
Must be willing to travel as needed (10% - 20%)
To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
Preferred
5+ years of experience as an NDE Inspector with Eddy Current (ET)
Capable of influencing partner teams and peers to unify to a common vision
Competent with computer skills: Warp Applications (Shop Floor, XFiles, and Manufacturing Planning) and Microsoft (Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point)
Knowledge of NASA 5009 standards, AMS, AWS / ASME, ASTM etc
Capable of performing root cause analysis on suspect inspection escapes
