The role involves hands-on management of the accounting function and ensuring compliance with GAAP standards.

Responsibilities
Own day-to-day accounting operations, including GL, journal entries, and reconciliations
Lead cash-to-GAAP conversion, including identification and implementation of required adjustments
Establish and maintain GAAP-compliant accounting policies and procedures
Prepare and review monthly financial statements
Ensure balance sheet integrity and accurate revenue and expense recognition
Support ongoing accounting operations post-conversion to ensure GAAP consistency
Partner with leadership to improve reporting accuracy and close processes
Qualification
Required
Proven Controller-level experience within an insurance brokerage or insurance services environment
Hands-on experience converting accounting from cash basis to GAAP
Strong understanding of insurance accounting concepts (commissions, accruals, prepaid expenses, deferred revenue as applicable)
QuickBooks (required)
Strong Excel skills for reconciliations, schedules, and adjustments
