Senior Construction Engineer

Hughes Technical Center, performing engineering assignments related to infrastructure projects and ensuring compliance with technical standards and safety procedures.

Responsibilities
Performs various office engineering assignments involving the monitoring and technical evaluation of work in progress on a field construction site
Establishes and maintains liaison with design engineering staff
Reviews and interprets design drawings and specifications to ensure current revision level and feasibility to perform technical execution of work
Provides resolution for technical engineering problems and coordinates application of solutions
Provides technical guidance to site personnel regarding installations
Interfaces with the client and upper-level site management as required
Ensures that all work within his/her assigned scope of responsibility is installed in accordance with plans, specifications, and industry and quality standards
This includes ensuring that all tests and inspections are performed, witnessed, and documented in accordance with approved procedures by onsite personnel
Collaborates with risk specialists to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees
Ensures that personnel of the assigned group engage in safe work practices in compliance with site-specific safety procedures and industry standards
Maintains construction technical catalogs, supplier data, and other literature pertaining to the project
May assist field resident engineers and project managers in portions of larger more-complex activities as directed
Coordinates activities and schedules for field crews and subcontractors
Prepares activity and technical reports, taking input from field crews
Monitors and updates project schedules, deliverables, cost, and quality performance
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in engineering or construction-related field, or equivalent construction-related work experience
5+ years of experience in field construction
Experience with execution of facilities and infrastructure upgrade and renovations projects
Must be able to meet customer security requirements
Requires a working knowledge of engineering and construction-related processes, as well as industry practices
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering and construction
Potential for performing in a lead capacity on a project
