Liability Claims Assistant
PRISM is a joint powers authority that provides risk management and insurance solutions for public entities throughout California. The Liability Claims Assistant will support the Chief Claims Officer and Liability Claims Manager in various aspects of the Liability Claims Department, including processing claims, maintaining records, and fostering member relationships.
Responsibilities
Maintain GL new loss inbox and set up and process acknowledgement of all new GL losses
Report all GL losses to appropriate reinsurers and manage reinsurer reimbursements
Process GL1 and GL2 reimbursements and maintain IMCD and Corridor recordkeeping
Participate in maintaining data integrity efforts within PRISM proprietary claims system
Process Property payments
Maintain records in Laserfiche specific to GL audits and Property mail
Committee Coordinator – work with Chief Claims Officer & Liability Manager to develop agendas, attend meetings and take minutes for committee meetings
Serves on the Quality Control team
Support the PRISM Core Values and PRISM Mission
Assist with the overall success of the organizational strategic plan, goals, and objectives of the organization
Create and maintain a strong and collaborative customer service, focused both internally and externally
Foster member relationships and assist members when needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or G.E.D
Two years of increasingly responsible clerical experience
Advanced computer skills with high attention to details
Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to maintain confidential information/records with strict adherence to privacy protocols
Ability to perform accurate data entry with minimal errors and high attention to detail
Proficiency in electronic filing systems and document management software
Knowledge of office procedures, business correspondence, and professional communication standards
Ability to handle basic arithmetical calculations and financial computations
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and good public relations with other employees, members and the public
Skill in researching, analyzing, and interpreting information from various sources and databases
Ability to set priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred
Experience working in the insurance or risk management industry
Experience working with a Risk Management Information System (RMIS)
Hands-on experience in accounts payable including invoice processing, vendor management and financial record maintenance
Experience supporting public sector operations, particularly in agenda preparation, taking comprehensive meeting minutes and maintaining accurate records in compliance with the Ralph M. Brown Act and other open meeting laws
Understanding confidentiality requirements, public disclosure protocols, and the ability to capture detailed, objective records of public proceedings
