Seasonal Biological Science Technician (Wildlife)
The National Park Service is responsible for managing national parks and protecting natural resources. Responsibilities
This position works directly with Wildlife Biologist, Law enforcement and Interpretive divisions to help manage bear/human interactions
Incumbents will patrol campgrounds and campsites to monitor bear activity and ensure proper food storage by the campers and report any food storage violations
This position will require the applicant to educate visitors on black bear behavior and biology
Applicants will work alone and be able to set and maintain numerous types of wildlife traps
Applicant will assist GS07 Biological Science Technician in monitoring wild hog damage and traps
Will patrol campgrounds and campsites to monitor bear activity and ensure proper food storage by the campers and report any food storage violations

Qualification
Required
U.S. Citizenship required
Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication
Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males
Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program
This position is subject to drug testing based on the collateral duty requiring firearms in the back-country or other locations for non-law enforcement reasons such as protection from animals
You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties
You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards
You may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime
To qualify for this position at the GS-0404-04 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least at least 6 months of general work experience and 6 months of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-0404-3 grade level in the Federal service
The specialized experience required is normally work performed in a controlled environment

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 2 years of study beyond high school that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations
