Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate complicated protocol support for high-ranking U.S. and foreign dignitaries within the United States Government and Foreign Nationals
Plan and organize a wide variety of events for Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATFS) such as conferences, ceremonies, luncheons and dinners, briefings, and visits
Research and compile information packages for visitors to include, but not limited to, their positions, unique religious, physical and dietary customs and/or restrictions, linguistic abilities and name pronunciation
Develop detailed itineraries considering many factors such as arrival details, size and significance of visitors, backgrounds, and interests
Execute logistical protocol support requirements including billeting availability, accommodations, VIP rooms, adequacy of facilities, seating arrangements, parking, and contingency plans for inclement weather or other interruptions
Use a variety of oral and written methods and techniques to compose invitations, compile various reports, maintain and publish rosters, and prepare briefings

Required

U.S. Citizens, Nationals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation
Two year trial/probationary period may be required
Must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter
Required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance Level with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access as a condition of employment
This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug­ Free Federal Workplace Program
Temporary Duty (TDY) travel expected for this position 15% or less of the time
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs and other organizations
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required
Specialized Experience at the GS/GG-09: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in planning official functions such as ceremonies, changes of command, receptions, dinners, luncheons, and visits; writing routine documents such as emails, invitations, or itineraries; and utilizing basic office resources such as email, web browsers, or spreadsheets
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position
Specialized Experience at the GS/GG-11: One year of specialized experience which includes planning official functions for high-ranking United States Government civilian, military, or foreign dignitaries; overseeing logistics for events; and utilizing basic office resources
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%

Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
