Business Development Manager (Marketing & Sales Administrator II)
The Maryland Department of Transportation is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented marketing and sales professional to join the Maryland Port Administration (MPA). The primary responsibility of this role is to enhance import and export cargo through the Port of Baltimore by providing exceptional customer service and developing marketing strategies to attract new customers.

Responsibilities
Maintain regular contact with all assigned accounts/lines of business to include shippers, terminal operators, importers/exporters, and transportation companies
Promote the benefits and capabilities of the Port of Baltimore to attract new customers/tenants
Develop mutually beneficial relationships with existing and potential lines of business in order to increase annual volumes of cargo moved through the Port
Plan and undertake in-state, out-of-state, and international marketing trips to meet with existing and potential new customers
Develop and execute comprehensive marketing plans that focus on assigned lines of business, including Container, Automobiles, Roll-On/Roll-Off, Break-Bulk, Bulk, and Cruise
Plan and participate in promotional events, sales calls, meetings, quality control seminars, trade shows, and conferences to network and effectively market the Port
Analyze market trends, cargo data, and carrier services information in assigned lines of business to stay abreast of maritime industry and assist in short/long term program planning
Forecast trends in maritime industry and target customers and commodities for marketing/sales purposes
Qualification
Required
Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, Mass Communications, Business or a related field from an accredited college or university
Eight (8) years of professional sales and marketing experience, six (6) years of which must have been in the Transportation industry
Employees in this classification are assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland
Employees in this classification will be required to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) to gain unescorted access to Maryland Port Administration facilities
Preferred
The Ideal Candidate will possess two (2) years of experience working in the Federal Government
Professional sales and marketing work experience in the maritime industry may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education
Additional graduate education in Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, Mass Communications or Business at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of thirty credit hours for each year of experience for up to two years of the required experience
