Responsibilities

You will oversee nuclear engineering projects in the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department
You will be responsible for both the technical and management aspects of your assigned projects
You will work with teams in the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department, production controllers and contractor representatives to coordinate projects
You will identify requirements and provide direction for shipyard reactor plant work
You will provide management guidance and coordinate work projects between the individual divisions
You will coordinate engineering and planning functions to ensure a thorough review of all approved work entering the department for each assigned project

Required

You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
This is a Mission Essential position
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER planning, coordinating, and reviewing nuclear engineering projects including functions related to refueling, alteration, repair, maintenance, and testing modifications of nuclear reactor plants
Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree
Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico
Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board
Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements
Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance
