Responsibilities

The Intern will gain advanced technical skills working in research and development
Work both as part of a team and independently to develop software, collect and analyze data, and creatively solve complex problems
Document project progress and communicate results to team members
Prepare GUI tools for scientific programming applications
Develop plugins and workflows to connect to commercial physics simulation tools
Work with sensor data from advanced manufacturing robotics systems
May assist in the development of artificial intelligence algorithms, particularly as it relates to physics modeling and autonomous path planning
Work with engineers and scientists to transition software prototypes into market-ready software products
Maintain secure handling of proprietary engineering data and adhere to cybersecurity procedures
Perform other duties, as required

Required

Major in a related field such as computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, or applied mathematics or physics
Must be a current Undergraduate student with at least Junior standing at the beginning of the internship period
Must be in good academic standing and be passionate about creating software to model physics and control devices for engineering applications
Skill in Python and one of C/C++/Java and project/work experience in the context of GUI/application development
Experience with software design and codebase management for large projects
Have excellent communication, writing, and documentation skills
Interest and enthusiasm in optimization, numerical methods, physics, and robotics are all a plus
Highly motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment with a desire to learn and tackle new challenges
Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S
Due to the nature of our business and information associated with this position, interested candidates must be US Citizens or Permanent Resident

Preferred

Coursework in AI/ML, robotics, and/or engineering design is desirable
Additional experience in engineering software such as SolidWorks, COMSOL, MATLAB, or Abaqus is a plus
