Responsibilities

This position is responsible for completing compliance inspection for the Construction General Permit, agency inspection strategies, policies and procedures
Assist in informal enforcement actions and make recommendations for formal enforcement actions
Reviews Soil Erosion and Stormwater Management Plans and Construction Record Drawings
Ensure plans for nonexempt land-disturbing activities are designed in accordance with regulation and sound environmental principles as covered by the General VPDES Permit for Discharges of Stormwater from Construction Activities (Construction General Permit) under the NPDES program of the Federal Clean Water Act

Required

Knowledge of erosion control and stormwater engineering principles and practices gained through education and/or work experience
Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to erosion and sediment controls and stormwater management
Knowledge, skills and abilities in project management and personal computer operations (including word processing, spreadsheets and database management)
Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to work effectively with little direct supervision
Ability to work well with diverse groups of people
Experience in field investigation and developing and writing technical reports to document observations and findings
DEQ certification as ESC and Stormwater (Dual Program) Combined Administrator or must be obtained within 12 months of employment in the position
Coursework in environmental science or engineering, biological sciences, ecology, biology, site design, soils, hydrology, and/or environmental law, or in a physical science discipline containing hydraulic or soils principles or in another technical field relating to land development
This position may require you to operate a state owned or leased vehicle. Therefore, a valid driver's license is required
