Responsibilities
Works in various landfill areas, including the scalehouse, transfer station, demolition hill, and recycling centers
Operates heavy equipment such as bulldozers, compactors, excavators, loaders, graders, and roll-off trucks
Uses equipment to collect and manage solid waste and recyclables
Collects and transports landfill materials using front loaders and roll-off trucks
Loads and compacts waste using front-end loaders, backhoes, and related equipment
Inspects waste for recycling compliance and prohibited or hazardous materials
Assists with demolition projects and transports debris to the landfill
Directs dumping activities and educates the public on proper landfill use
Conducts daily equipment inspections to ensure safe operation
Maintains landfill grounds, roadways, and access areas
Assigns work and directs staff to appropriate work areas when needed
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent
At least one (1) year experience in the operation of heavy motorized equipment
Must have a valid driver's license
Must obtain a Class B CDL license within six months
Must complete Solid Waste Association of North America training and receive certification within two (2) years of hire
