Responsibilities
Maintains and updates geospatial data of municipal GIS databases including converting and archiving existing data and inputting geospatial data collected from utility construction projects
Conducts informational queries, prepares maps and inputs field data in the GIS database
Prepares water and wastewater main extension drawings
Performs field inspections on new and existing water, and wastewater systems
Computes and drafts work by using AutoCAD or hand drafting skills
Prepares various scaled drawings from field notes; reduces field notes, plots and checks center lines and cross-sections on computer
Prepares permit sketches and applications for various municipal and governmental agencies
Participates in department meetings and provides GIS and CAD technical support
Essential Employees may be required to work during an during a declared or undeclared emergency
Performs related work as required
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree with two (2) years of CAD experience, or two (2) years of GIS experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Must possess a valid current Florida driver's license, or be able to acquire one within 45 days of hire
Knowledge of GIS and CAD, surveying, engineering practices, and mathematics
Knowledge of various public utility facilities (construction, maintenance) and materials
Knowledge of the terminology, methods, practices and techniques of computer drafting
Knowledge of simple trigonometry, especially as applied to the making of routine survey computations
Knowledge of level and transit survey equipment
Skill in the use of a variety of computer programs, including Microsoft Office, GIS or CAD and various other office equipment
Ability to make simple technical computations
Ability to interpret field notes and to apply them in complex oral and written instructions
