Responsibilities

Directly supervises production activities and plant operations through respective Team Leads
Assures that Safety and Environmental is very prominent in the Operations environment through demonstration and enforcement of all Company Safety and Environmental standards. This would include an active role in Safety Meetings
Develop and maintain operating guidelines and instructions, for sustaining operation of all plant facilities
Assists in the preparation of detailed efficiency studies and analyzes operations to conceptualize needs and determine requirements for the operations sustainability and improvements
Coordinates with the Plant Manager, Maintenance Manager and the Engineering & Construction Department to provide input and assistance during the planning, design, construction and start-up phases of new facilities
Assists the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager with the preparation of annual operations budget, as well as periodic updates and forecasts
Coordinates with Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager in support of preventative maintenance plan for all facility equipment
Maintains professional and high-level contact with customers, vendors and management
Assures compliance with all associated regulations (MSHA, OSHA, etc.) which include documentation and reporting for each regulation
Responsible for understanding and complying with contractual obligations to ensure that requirements are met
Consolidates data and prepares weekly and monthly activity reports as requested
Responsible for administration of the personnel management functions of subordinate staff, to include recruitment, orientation, training, evaluation, scheduling, disciplinary actions and termination
Will be on On-Call 24 hours per day and 7 days per week. Coverage of the Operations Manager duties shall be delegated when out of the area for business or personal reasons
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, subordinates (if any) and company officers and managers, clients, vendors, and suppliers
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times, including the ability to recognize situations in which confidentiality is required

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent
Five years of experience in MSHA and OSHA
Must have advanced knowledge and skill using computers. Including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer and Outlook
Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Company's vehicle insurance policy
Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, orally and in written format
Ability to read and understand technical materials
Ability to make presentations to large audiences
Ability to prepare detailed reports, including the ability to assemble information in computer programs
Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
Ability to schedule, organize, and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health Sciences or related degree
Experience as a safety training instructor
Knowledge and experience in HAZMAT, NFPA 70E, Industrial Hygiene, and CRP-First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens are preferred
