HR Generalist/Payroll Support Specialist
Southland Steel Fabricators, Inc. is a steel fabrication facility seeking an HR Generalist/Payroll Support Specialist to support their Human Resources and Payroll functions. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate payroll operations, assisting with employee onboarding, and providing HR support to over 200 shop employees.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and assist with employee onboarding at the Amite facility (with GB onboarding handled separately)
Maintain and track shop employees’ attendance point system across both locations
Assist employees and managers with UKG system questions, including logins, PTO, benefits, and timecard approvals
Support benefit enrollment by assisting employees with enrollment processes and documentation
Maintain hourly employee schedules within the UKG Ready HRIS system
Handle incoming and outgoing HR-related email inquiries
Provide general HR support and assist with other assigned HR duties as needed
Assist in processing weekly payroll for all facility employees using the UKG Ready HRIS system
Review and verify timesheets, attendance records, and wage calculations to ensure accuracy, including ensuring timely approval of weekly timecards
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, as well as company policies
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, garnishments, and related matters in a timely and professional manner
Process contract workers’ weekly timecards to vendors for accurate billing
Process HR invoices for payment processing
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Working knowledge of payroll regulations and HR compliance requirements
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field
2+ years of payroll or HR support experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Proficiency with UKG Ready HRIS or similar payroll/HR systems
