Audio-Visual Specialist

Responsibilities

Serves as a producer and technical assistant for public meetings and events that are streamed and/or recorded for later playback
Provides technical support for photography, videography, production, direction, and post-production, as well as appropriate archival, retrieval, and distribution of video programs for public information, education, and engagement efforts
Assists with planning, executing, and publicizing events, such as Board meetings, dedications, work sessions, community events, etc., as directed
Posts and updates informational videos and published informational materials on the website and other distribution platforms, including social media. Performs daily scheduling tasks, including program input, deleting obsolete program files, and archival of program files to be used later Adds closed captioning to videos and other routine operations of automated County video and audio distribution systems
Assists with installing basic AV systems, including speakers, speaker wiring, cables, components, monitors, webcams, projectors, and microphones. Reports all maintenance of audio/video content distribution equipment and system to leadership and the Digital, Strategy & Technology (DST) Department if critical systems are malfunctioning. Works with DST to resolve routine computer issues and troubleshoot problems
Coordinates routine updates to and maintenance of audio/video equipment; provides recommendations on necessary hardware, software, and vendor support to meet current and anticipated program requirements
Responsible for training staff on the proper operations of video/audio and program distribution equipment, including live presentation facilities, remote video/audio distribution facilities, editing equipment, and archival and program distribution equipment and protocol
May be assigned to assist in the planning and set up of necessary technical facilities to support events, public meetings, and other programs and services
May be responsible for the program planning, scheduling, and daily operations of automated video and audio distribution systems and development of efficient archival procedures to facilitate access to programming content for reuse and long-term retrieval of historical information

Required

Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in video production, video editing, and audio production, lighting, and photography
Knowledge of television production equipment, including cameras, video switchers, audio control consoles, and computerized programming, editing, and distribution equipment
Understand the structure and primary functions of local government
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be detail-oriented and ensure accuracy in work
Must be able to conceptualize, schedule and complete projects with minimal supervision; ability to prioritize projects and responsibilities and coordinate daily work schedules with other Communications team members to ensure proper support and coverage for all meetings and events
Ability to multi-task and demonstrate sound problem-solving skills
Ability to establish effective working relationships with Elected Officials, Appointed Officials, Executive Leadership, employees, volunteers, and the public. Ability to provide excellent customer service
Maintain regular and punctual attendance
High school diploma or equivalent education
Three years of audio-visual programming, production, or related experience
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, motor vehicle record check, drug screen, and physical examination
Duties are primarily performed in multiple offices, editing suite, and public meetings and events; frequent travel for meetings and events is required
May be required to work early mornings, evenings, or weekends as business needs dictate
Must be able to safely lift and carry equipment up to 25 pounds
Position requires bending, reaching, and lifting, as well as the ability to safely move audio-visual equipment
