Controls Engineer

Scope Services, Inc. is seeking a Controls Engineer to support their LNG Engineering and Technical Service group. The role involves providing design review, developing specifications, and supporting plant controls projects, while working closely with Plant Operations and other engineers to integrate new equipment into the control systems.

Responsibilities

Participates in project meetings, staying informed of project status and actively supporting the project’s technical needs as the controls subject matter expert
Support the company’s LNG facilities as necessary to troubleshoot problems related to installed controls systems
Assists LNG team in the successful implementation of projects including supporting the planning, execution, development, engineering, and project management of LNG capital projects
Provides field support as needed during the construction, installation, and commissioning of projects
Ensures all work is performed in accordance with NFPA 59A, 40 CFR 193, ASME B31.3 and all other applicable codes and standards
Assists in the development of project budgets, estimates project costs, prepares bid specifications, performs equipment analysis and selection
Responds to submittals and RFIs allowing for their timely response
Supports the development of new process and equipment procedures
Records information to ensure project is appropriately documented for future regulatory review
Identifies and documents lessons learned for their use in future projects
Responsible for supporting the LNG team, including project managers/engineers and facility staff in the execution of projects related to controls systems, security systems, cyber security, instrumentation and other related projects
Helps to ensure the projects meet pre-determined objectives concerning quality, adherence to technical specifications, reliability, schedule and budget
Obtains, oversees, integrates and coordinates internal and external resources necessary to ensure materials, equipment and services are delivered on time

Required

Experience working as part of an engineering, maintenance, technology or construction project team in support of process plant construction or maintenance
Must deal with short time frames and handle multiple competing priorities
Must be independently motivated and able to work without detailed direction
Must support on site construction activities, monitoring quality and providing feedback
Must have a strong ability to interpret drawings and other technical documents
Must have a strong understanding of the technical principles of process control, piping, instrumentation, rotating machinery, hazard identification, electrical fundamentals and other engineering skills as they relate to process plants
Must be capable of performing field-related duties which may include, but are not limited to: climbing, walking on uneven surfaces and working during inclement weather conditions
Very strong organization practices
Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, effectively interfacing with stakeholders
Must have excellent knowledge of controls system architecture, manufacturer's systems such as Allen Bradley, Siemens and Emerson
Should have strong knowledge of alarm management and implementation of data historians
Skilled with MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
Master's or Bachelor's Degree in electrical, computers, mechanical, chemical, process, petroleum, or other related engineering discipline, plus ten (8) years work experience; OR
Associate's Degree in electrical, computers, mechanical, chemical, process, petroleum, or other related engineering discipline, plus twelve (12) years work experience; OR
Minimum of fifteen (15) years relevant work experience in electrical, computers, mechanical, chemical, process, petroleum, or other related engineering discipline

Preferred

Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Certification (PMP) preferred
