El Paso Electric Company is responsible for providing electric utility services. They are seeking a Technician - HVAC who will perform installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems for company facilities.

Responsibilities
Performs installation, maintenance, repair, and retrofit of HVAC systems for Company facilities, including monitoring HVAC systems operations and assures routine preventive maintenance; to include working with electrical systems and/or components
Performs special projects such as installation of HVAC systems for UPS, LAN and phone systems/environments in power plants, substations, offices, and other facilities
Responsible for Control Room system HVAC and Companywide refrigerant recovery, recycling and CFC compliance
Performs upgrades to building systems
Responsible for redesign of Company HVAC installations as necessary
Obtains permits for HVAC and mechanical systems installation in Company facilities
Checks, repairs and/or replaces valves, motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring, fans, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, pipes and other functional components of HVAC systems, to include electrical systems and/or components
Maintains water treatment systems
Installs, maintains, and utilizes energy management systems
Performs all work with adherence to safety procedures and code specifications
Accountable for direct expenses relative to labor, parts and materials
May orient, train, assign and check the work of lower level employees
Complies with all applicable Company policies, procedures and code of ethics as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations to include employment, safety and environmental standards and regulations
Performs other general building repair and maintenance functions related to electrical, carpentry, plumbing, locksmith, electronics, custodial services, etc. as needed
Qualification
Required
Graduation from a recognized college or university with an associate's degree in applied science HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning), equivalent certificate from trade school or completion of equivalent apprenticeship program; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Ability to obtain Class A or B Contractors License from the State of Texas within one (1) year of employment
Registered as an HVAC Technician with the State of Texas
Ability to obtain an MM-3 License from the State of New Mexico within one (1) year of employment
Refrigerant Transition and Recovery EPA Universal Certification
One to five (1-5) years working experience with a web-based building automated controls system, configure and deploy complex features, such as advanced alarming and custom trending, design of protocols, write logic, maintain and update systems
Proficient knowledge of computerized control systems for HVAC and related building systems
Proficient knowledge and skills in reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and trace control circuits
Proficient mechanical aptitude and background and good manual dexterity
Applies mastery of skill in area of specialization. Adapts procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs
Ability to braze and install refrigerant piping, evacuate, recharge and start up HVAC equipment
Ability to plan and prioritize daily tasks accordingly
Valid driver's license and must comply with the El Paso Electric Driving Policy
Ability to maintain a strong sense of propriety concerning confidential matters
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with officers, managers, fellow employees, representatives of other utilities, outside consultants and the public
Must pass a Human Performance Evaluation (HPE)
Must be NERC certified or obtain NERC certification within one year of hire
Preferred
HVAC Sheet Metal Fabrication experience preferred
Welding experience preferred
Electrical certification/license preferred
Web-based controls system experience preferred
Supervisory Experience in electric utility preferred
