Responsibilities

Design Review & Technical Compliance
Review and analyze mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection drawings, specifications, reports, and technical studies for compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and Port Authority standards
Evaluate system designs related to building construction and renovation within transportation and related facilities
Identify design deficiencies, code issues, and coordination concerns across assigned disciplines
Coordination & Stakeholder Interface
Coordinate review comments from multiple technical disciplines and consolidate feedback into clear, organized memoranda for transmission to Port Authority line departments
Attend meetings with tenant design consultants to discuss review comments, resolve issues, and support timely approvals
Act as a liaison between Port Authority tenants, facilities staff, and in-house reviewers to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow
Communicate with Port Authority facilities staff to support processing of TAA submissions and design audit projects

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a closely related discipline
Minimum of five (5) years of diverse experience involving building codes, system design, and construction documentation review
Demonstrated understanding of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems related to building design and construction of transportation and related facilities
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of New York and/or New Jersey is required
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to effectively coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including tenants, consultants, facilities staff, and internal reviewers
Sound technical judgment and attention to detail when reviewing complex design documents
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability and willingness to learn Port Authority and third-party software platforms, including SharePoint, Trimble, eBuilder, and similar systems
Organized, dependable, and capable of managing multiple concurrent reviews while meeting deadlines
