Social Work Unit Supervisor
Hennepin County is seeking an experienced mental health professional for the role of Social Work Unit Supervisor at their Behavioral Health Center in Minneapolis. The position involves supervising staff, providing leadership, and ensuring high-quality care for individuals with substance use disorders and mental health conditions.

Responsibilities
Provide onsite clinical supervision and operations oversight during operating hours in collaboration with a supervisory team
Engage community partners and internal and external stakeholders through tours, presentations, workgroups, consultation, and debriefing
Provide leadership and change management during expansion and iteration of services, including but not limited to participation in quality improvements, training, implementation, and monitoring
Provide supervision to individual contributors including but not limited to hiring, onboarding, training, performance management and reviews, workforce development, and enforcement of labor agreements and personnel rules
Provide team supervision including but not limited to establishing and maintaining team dynamics; upholding Hennepin County mission, vision and values; establishing agendas and facilitating meetings; writing policy and procedure; implementing or clarifying workflows; coordinating staff training; assigning work; and providing coverage for team when needed
Provide oversight including but not limited to determining program goals and objectives, data collection and reporting, monitoring documentation, quality improvement and quality assurance activities, collaborating with community partners, and ensuring completion on tasks and workplans
Engage in disparity reduction and health equity work within Behavioral Health
Implement pilot programs or new initiatives within Behavioral Health
Qualification
Required
Master's degree or higher in social work or closely related field (or licensed as a graduate social worker by the Minnesota Board of Social Work) and three or more years of experience as a social worker
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or human services, and 27 or more quarter credits of graduate work in areas such as social work methods, human growth and behavior, and/or principles of social welfare, and four or more years of supervised experience as a social worker
Six or more years of experience as a Senior/Psychiatric/Child Protection Social Worker in Hennepin County
Licensure in the State of Minnesota as one of the following: Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) by the Minnesota Board of Social Work, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Psychologist (LP)
A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit and access to reliable transportation to travel primarily within the metro area to possibly transport and/or meet with persons in their residential or community settings
Preferred
Experience serving individuals living with mental health conditions and/or substance use disorder
Experience working in a supervisory or lead position
Experience working with suicide prevention and intervention research and best practices
Experience serving individuals with criminal justice involvement, or experience working with law enforcement or sheriff's office
Experience engaging with diverse staff and clients that includes efforts towards disparity reduction
Experience working with electronic health record documentation
Knowledge of county and community resources for mental health, substance use disorder, social services, and basic needs
Knowledge of cultural differences in beliefs and practices relating to mental health, treatment, family structure, and dynamics
Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles
Knowledge of ethics, rules, and statutes related to mental health services
Knowledge of social determinants of health
Knowledge of diversity and inclusion strategies with a focus on disparities reduction
Ability to function well in unpredictable and challenging situations calling for sensitivity, flexibility, resourcefulness, and independent judgment
Ability to problem-solve in a very fast paced environment
Ability to build effective partnerships with internal and external partners
Ability to effectively interact with people from diverse backgrounds and/or populations who experience health disparities
Ability to work well in a group setting and be accountable to the team
