Performs complex research, design, and software development assignments within a software functional area or product line
Provides direct input to project plans, schedules, and methodology in the development of cross-functional software products
Performs software design — typically across multiple systems
Mentors more-junior members of the team
Talks to users/customers and translates their requests into solutions
Qualification
Required
5+ years of Software Engineering experience in AWS
BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required
Advanced knowledge of AWS Cloud services: Lambda, SQS, DynamoDB, S3, Event Bridge, etc
Expertise in development languages including but not limited to: Python, Java/J2EE, JavaScript
Advanced knowledge of DevOps practices and operational excellence (automation, reliability, observability, and continuous improvement)
Advanced knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, including build automation, automated testing, artifact/version management, and deployment strategies (e.g., blue/green, canary, rollback)
Proficient with Git, including branching strategies, pull requests/code reviews, tagging/versioning, and resolving merge conflicts
Advanced knowledge of supporting cloud applications and platforms in production; able to troubleshoot, resolve incidents, and collaborate with other teams to identify root cause and implement long-term preventative fixes
Experience with incident response and recovery, including rapidly restoring service, executing rollback/hotfix strategies, and improving runbooks/monitoring to prevent recurrence
Strong ability to troubleshoot distributed systems using logs/metrics/traces and to perform thorough root cause analysis (RCA)
Experience building and integrating AI agents into production workflows (tool use, orchestration, and safe execution patterns)
Ability to design agent architectures including prompting strategies, function/tool calling, memory/state management, and multi-step reasoning workflows
Familiarity with operationalizing AI systems: observability (tracing, metrics), cost/performance optimization, and incident response for AI-driven services
Advanced knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)
Strong proficiency with data manipulation language including optimization techniques
Strong understanding of normalized/dimensional data modeling principles
Strong knowledge of multiple data storage subsystems
Strong knowledge in industry best practices in development
Knowledge of test-driven development
Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of complex system components
Ability to complete complex bug fixes
Good oral and written communications skills
