Responsibilities
Assist Safety Manager and Safety Specialists with conducting and documenting inspections including positive and negative observations
Work with General Contractors and On-Site Safety Representatives to address safety concerns
Attend all on-site safety meetings
Upload safety documents to Procore or other software application
Assist in maintaining safety records, including pre-task plans, Job Hazard Analyses, training records, toolbox meetings, the OSHA 300 log, SDS and chemical inventory sheets, incident investigations and metrics
Assist with developing toolbox talks related to Sargent
Assist with reviewing and updating Sargent’s policies and procedures
Assist with creating, planning, and conducting Sargent safety trainings
Assist with new hire safety orientation
Participate in hand-off and strategy meetings for new projects
Participate in incident investigation including 'root cause' analysis
Participate in regional safety committees
Use of various software applications (PlanIT, Procore, HCSS)
Perform other job duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Basic knowledge of Safety and Environmental principles
Working towards a Four-year Safety and Occupational Health/Construction type degree, with a minimum of 2 years' education
Basic understanding of Heavy Construction & Earthwork
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe
Valid driver's license with clean driving record is required
Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to travel if needed
Knowledge of and ability to follow and enforce all applicable safety standards at all times
Ability to make good, timely, and sound decisions
Ability to maintain a neat, professional appearance at all times
Stand, sit, or walk frequently and for long durations
Manual dexterity and the ability to use hands and arms to grasp, reach for, handle, and assemble or manipulate objects
Lift and carry materials and tools weighing up to 50 pounds
Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects to inspect all areas of work sites
Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl in construction areas, including confined spaces
20/40 vision, with or without corrective lenses
Hear (naturally or with correction) on sites where the hearing of backup alarms or other sounds may be required
Meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively for up to 12 hours a day in hot and cold weather conditions
