Responsibilities

Lead/guide the customer technical team with designs that achieve the customer's goals while considering project scope, schedule, budget and ATL's best interests
Understand FDA and world regulatory body requirements for medical devices
Comply with company, quality, and safety standards, policies, and procedures
Technical authority for manufacturing transfer of complex components, subassemblies and finished medical devices in conjunction with program management
Support and review of technical activities across different functional groups to ensure successful completion of project goals and milestones
Proactively anticipates technical project risks and issues, and carefully formulates and implements risk mitigations and corrective/preventive actions
Supports project team in establishing and maintaining product requirements and test plans
Lead the end-to-end architecture of camera systems, including sensors, illumination, A/D conversion, transmission interfaces, and embedded ISP
Own system-level understanding of ISP, compression, encoding, and display pipelines to guide internal decisions and external development partners
Supports program management in appropriate resource allocation to meet program goals and milestones
May work with Business Unit Leaders (BUL) for new competency development and harmonization across engineering sites
Technical approver in program reviews with internal leadership, customers (as needed), and be able to communicate program status, technical needs and dependencies concisely and effectively
Establish communication and reporting mechanisms for efficient global communications and accountability regarding any technical matters in a project
Support in proposal preparation, developing estimates and soliciting and reviewing inputs from cross-functional teams
Hands‑on problem solver who can support engineers and technicians when needed, while primarily operating as a senior technical decision‑maker and escalation point
Travel up to 25% of time (Both domestic and international)
Able to work a flexible schedule as global programs, at times, will require early morning or evening meetings with international project teams
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Required

A Bachelor's degree with at least ten (10) years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced degree with seven (7) years of relevant experience
Strong level of knowledge in engineering within medical devices
Experience with engineering principals, physics, mechanics, and formulas
Experience with ISO 13485 and FDA CFR 820 and the impacts to product design, project schedules and documentation requirements
Ability to effectively influence and lead others in a matrix organization by proactively reviewing program progress and course-correcting teams, driving issues to closure
Experience working on cross-functional teams on large, complex programs with concurrent design and production build activities
Experience collaborating with international project teams on global projects
Experience developing camera-based imaging systems, ideally in the medical or other regulated industries
Direct experience with OmniVision sensors and ISPs, including selection, integration, configuration, and tuning
Expertise in imaging hardware, CMOS sensors, illumination, A/D conversion, transmission interfaces, and small‑form‑factor camera integration
Fluency in the English language
Excellent communication skills
