Youth Program Coordinator
City of Shaker Heights is seeking a Youth Program Coordinator to develop, implement, and coordinate various youth programs at recreation facilities and parks. The role involves managing summer camps, collaborating with community organizations, and supervising staff to ensure effective program delivery.
Responsibilities
Develops, plans, organizes, and coordinates preschool, school age, and teen programs at Recreation facilities and parks, and manages summer camps and youth special events
Reaches out to the community to make connections for programs, collaborating with peers and local organizations, booking space, talking to contractors, keeping track of contractors invoices, setting up contractors, budget development etc
Serves as direct liason to the Shaker Heigths Youth Collaborative. Coordinates with contractors about their class descriptions
Performs budget managing duties, following spreadsheets and writing expense reports
Prepares and maintains a variety of office files, accounts, and other records; prepares statistical and financial reports; assists with processing budget information; orders supplies for programs and events
Answers telephone; receives inquiries, complaints, and service requests and resolves them within the framework of established policies and procedures or forwards them to appropriate party for disposition; assists the public with the completion of standardized forms or documents
Assigns, leads, trains and inspects the work of staff; recommends rewards and discipline; assists in coaching, counseling and evaluating staff performance; assists on schedules; supervises daily operations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in education, parks and recreation, public relations, or related field
Moderate experience in recreation program coordination, sports management, marketing, social media management, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Valid Driver's License in the State of Ohio
Thorough knowledge of the philosophies, principles and practices of recreational programming
General knowledge of the social behavior of all age groups
Thorough knowledge of the methods involved in organizing, conducting, promoting, and supervising athletic and recreation activities
General knowledge of bookkeeping and budgeting principles, methods and procedures
Skill in the use of personal computers, associated software packages, hardware, and peripheral equipment
Ability to efficiently schedule and coordinate recreational activities
Ability to maintain program files and records
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, other departments, program participants and the general public
