Project Accounting Manager

The Project Accounting Manager will lead a team of Project Accountants and manage the financial aspects of projects, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.

Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of Project Accountants, providing training, guidance and supervision in their daily activities
Provide support to Finance and Operations leaders in managing the financial aspects of projects, including but not limited to work-in-progress (WIP) reviews, revenue recognition, and profitability analysis
Evaluate project authorization and amendment documents to ensure compliance with internal controls
Implement and maintain project accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company policies and external regulations
Support integration processes for acquired firms, including data migration and personnel transitions
Prepare internal and external audit support and respond to inquiries from Project Accounting and Finance leadership
System management of projects including, but not limited to, project setup, maintenance, invoicing, and project closure
Assist in collections of aging receivables; correspond with project managers, clients, and/or collections agencies to resolve problems and expedite payment
Assist employees with troubleshooting the company accounting system
Assist Project Accounting Leaders with ad hoc projects
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree preferred; candidates with substantial equivalent experience will also be considered
Familiarity with California prevailing wage requirements
At least eight years of project billing and accounting experience within a consulting services firm required
Proficient in labor-based ERP systems, with a strong preference for Deltek Vantagepoint or Vision
Two to three years of experience in project financial analysis
Advanced knowledge of general project accounting concepts, including Work in Process (WIP) and revenue recognition
Demonstrated experience in leading, mentoring, and training teams
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with acute attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
