They are seeking a Senior Application Developer to work on their COBOL development team, focusing on the analysis, design, development, and maintenance of complex projects that support their policy administration system.

Responsibilities

Analysis, design, development, and maintenance of small to large scale, complex projects supporting our policy administration system and related business processes

Work within our Rocket Enterprise Server (formerly Micro Focus) environment to code elegant and innovative solutions that drive business value in a fast-paced environment

Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline

Minimum 5 years of experience in COBOL development

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead discussions, document technical decisions, and collaborate effectively across teams

Demonstrated initiative and ownership, with a track record of driving projects from concept to delivery with minimal oversight

Self-starter who is highly adaptable, with the ability to quickly learn new technologies and contribute to a fast-paced, collaborative engineering environment

Reliable individual capable of working independently as well as part of a team

Preferred

Advanced proficiency in COBOL development on the Micro Focus Enterprise Server platform

Experience with JCL, CICS, and batch processing environments

Expertise in SQL Server and relational database design, including performance tuning and query optimization

Familiarity with Visual Studio as a development environment

Ability to collaborate with .NET development teams on cross-platform initiatives

Experience in the insurance industry
