Responsibilities
Developing and maintaining a high level team through professionalism that reflects well on the project team, external stakeholders and LAWA’s internal stakeholders
Design and draft both 2D and 3D designs of systems, civil grading, foundations, piping, underground, roadway, and other infrastructure systems
Support pipeline and utility design, mapping, and database development using AutoCAD. The work includes documenting features such as utilities, incorporating survey and property and right-of-way information, developing exhibits for communication and permitting, and preparing construction drawings
Interpret land surveys and maps to design grading, structures, and other factors that can affect the placement of the projects
Ensure the design of third-party modification to their assets complies with the design standards and requirements of the applicable asset owner(s)
Identify required new utility services and prepare necessary special provisions to implement
Interpret civil engineering and building plans to determine where to design systems
Submit proposed design plans to project engineer for review and approval
Produce work/plan redline markup and comments
Interact and work together with other teams to provide integrated services and support
Understanding of city, county and state laws regarding design and code requirements
Prepare technical figures and engineering drawings containing plans, profiles, sections, and details
Take ownership for the quality and accuracy of one’s work
Participate in project reviews as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Drafting, or Design
3-5 years of civil engineering design experience
Expertise in using AutoCAD
Expertise in using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
Some travel may be required
