Low Voltage Technology Engineer - MEP
Kimley-Horn has an opportunity for a motivated Sr. Low Voltage Technology Design Leader to expand their MEP practice in Orange, CA and throughout Southern California. The role involves leading and executing designs for various technology systems and coordinating with clients and partners to ensure project success.
Civil Engineering
Responsibilities
Lead and execute designs for Technology systems (Telecommunication rooms, structured Cabling systems, and Pathways infrastructure); Nurse Call, Infant Protection, Electronic Safety and Security Systems (Video Surveillance and Access Control); and Audiovisual Systems
Develop and evaluate low voltage system Technology System concepts and options to determine best design and engineering solution for each project based upon project scope
Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, industry standards, and other applicable codes related to the design and layout of low voltage and telecommunications systems
Develop detailed design drawings, develop design narratives and CSI specifications for bidding and construction
Actively interface and coordinate with external clients, architects, consultants, and construction partners
Perform construction administration services
Assist team in achieving project budget and management of resources
Provide mentorship for other engineers and designers within the organization
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree
12+ years of experience in design and consulting for low voltage and/or electrical systems
Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, industry standards, and other applicable codes related to the design and layout of low voltage and telecommunications systems
Experience in architectural and engineering work
Working experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office Products
Ability to self-manage throughout the project and work as part of a team
Proven communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
Active participation in industry organizations
Preferred
Associates in Applied Science in Engineering Technology or similar education
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Candidate with RCDD certification or similar industry certification is preferred
Candidates with a PE license or ability to obtain a PE license will be considered a plus
