ENGINEER SYSTEMS 3 / SYSTEM INTEGRATION TESTING ENGINEER

The Systems Integration Testing Engineer will be responsible for lifecycle management of a commercial laptop system, including software testing, technical writing, and system integration analyses to ensure the effective operation of propulsion plant components and systems.

Responsibilities

Responsible for manual software (acceptance) testing, problem solving, technical writing, and other efforts associated with the PP-DE/DT’s lifecycle management
Preparation and/or peer review of interdepartmental memos, liaison action request responses, testing documentation, process guides, etc
Regularly communicates with the Navy, NNL, outside vendors, and management/engineers across the PPPY and other NNS departments via email, phone, and meetings
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems
Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications

Required

Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience
Master's Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience
Ph.D. and 0 years of experience
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program

Preferred

Any ABET engineering discipline can apply
Preferred candidates will have a BS in one of the following disciplines: systems, computer, software, electrical, or mechanical
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Self-motivated and able to prioritize and lead with limited oversight
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
High degree of organizational skills and attention to detail
Innovative thinker with a focus on continuous improvement
Technical writing experience
Configuration/change management experience a plus
Requirements management experience a plus
Knowledge management experience a plus
Manual software testing experience a plus
Testing automation experience a plus
