Postdoctoral Fellow, Center Addiction Science Therapeutics
The University of Texas Medical Branch is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Center for Addiction Science Therapeutics. The role involves conducting and presenting research under a faculty mentor, designing specialized chemical reactions, and supervising laboratory personnel.

Responsibilities
Design and oversee medicinal/organic chemistry synthetic procedure, purification and characterization of small molecules
Design and implement chemical procedures; design safety procedures; adapt new procedures, methods or instrumentation relative to research procedures
Collect, prepare, and analyze research data; keep a detailed notebook summarizing experiments and recording research data; maintain computer database of research data; tabulate and display data for presentation in research conferences and for manuscript preparation; use graphics and statistical software to analyze and present data
Supervise other personnel in the laboratory to coordinate research efforts for increased efficiency; participate in training of fellows, residents, students and volunteer workers as needed
Search and be up to date with scientific literature related to the assign project
Assist with ordering and procurement of supplies and equipment and with general maintenance of laboratory when needed
Qualification
Required
Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in any field
Scientific research experience
Experience in at least NMR, HRMS, HPLC
Ability to function independently
Ability to design and develop highly specialized medicinal chemistry/organic chemical reactions
Ability to summarize findings and publish results in research journals
Ability to assume general responsibility for scientific operations of the laboratory
Ability to provide supervision and guidance to junior technicians, students, and researchers
Preferred
Basic knowledge of in-vitro pharmacology
