15+ years expNovia Infotech is seeking a seasoned Data Governance Expert to design, implement, and operationalize an enterprise-wide data governance framework. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview or Collibra and will be responsible for driving governance adoption across business and IT teams, while also developing Python-based automation to scale governance operations.

Responsibilities
Define and implement enterprise data governance strategy, standards, and operating model
Establish governance processes covering:
Metadata management
Master data governance
Data quality
Data lineage
Data stewardship
Align governance initiatives with business objectives in partnership with business and IT stakeholders
Configure and manage Microsoft Purview for data discovery, cataloging, and governance
Implement and maintain:
Metadata models and standards
Data classifications and taxonomies
End-to-end data lineage
Business glossary and data definitions
Integrate Purview with data platforms and source systems
Ensure consistency, usability, and adoption of governance assets across the enterprise
Define and implement data quality frameworks, rules, and metrics
Establish controls for:
Completeness
Accuracy
Consistency
Timeliness
Validity
Partner with engineering teams to embed data quality checks into data pipelines
Monitor data quality issues and drive remediation workflows
Develop and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures
Support compliance with regulatory and internal governance requirements
Collaborate with security and legal teams on data access, retention, and privacy policies
Work closely with data engineering, analytics, security, and business teams
Ensure governance controls are embedded across data ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers
Support governance enablement across cloud and on-premise data platforms
Develop Python-based automation for:
Metadata ingestion
Classification updates
Lineage extraction
Governance reporting
Automate governance workflows, validations, and operational reporting
Build reusable utilities to improve governance efficiency and scalability
Qualification
Required
15+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Data Architecture
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview (Collibra experience also acceptable)
Proven experience building governance components: Metadata management, Data classifications, Master data governance, Data lineage, Business glossary
Strong understanding of data quality frameworks and tools
Experience defining data governance operating models and policies
Hands-on experience with Python automation
Solid understanding of data integration concepts and enterprise data architectures
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred
Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
Azure Enterprise Data Analyst Associate
Experience with Azure cloud data platforms
Exposure to CI/CD and version control for data models and governance artifacts
Experience with additional metadata management or governance tools
Domain experience in waste management, oil & gas, or asset-intensive industries
