Development Engineer Intern (Summer 2026)

Responsibilities
Project: CdSeTe thin film growth process and use of characterization to understand the process
Carry out solution prep, spin coating and execute thermal growth in a R&D specific oven
Conduct optical microscopy and other optical and electrical measurements such as PL and hall measurement
Analysis of obtained experimental data
Upon the completion of this internship, the intern is required to present their accomplishments and project summary to the leadership team
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in physical science and engineering, including but not limited to physics, EE, chemistry, chemical engineering or materials science engineering
Wet chemistry and other chemical-related experience in an academic research lab setting
Experience working with vacuum equipment, glovebox and characterization tools in an academic research lab setting
Experience with optical imaging techniques such as optical microscopy and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy
Ability to sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift
Ability to climb stairs on an occasional basis
Ability to lift, push or pull up to 37 pounds on an occasional basis
Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
20/40 vision in both eyes together, with or without correction
Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
Ability to reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
Ability to stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required
Preferred
Experience working with vacuum equipment, glovebox and characterization tools in an academic research lab setting would be a plus
Experience with optical imaging techniques such as optical microscopy and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy would be a plus
