Automation Engineer

LHH is seeking an Automation Engineer who will design, implement, and support instrumentation and control systems for industrial and process facilities. The role involves collaborating with engineering and project teams to ensure system reliability and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

Design, program, and commission control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA) for industrial facilities
Develop and maintain instrument specifications, datasheets, and control system documentation
Perform system troubleshooting, calibration, and functional testing of instrumentation and control systems
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams to ensure system integration
Support project planning, design reviews, and field installation of instrumentation and control equipment
Conduct loop checks, FAT/SAT testing, and startup support for process control systems
Ensure compliance with company, client, and industry standards (ISA, NEC, NFPA, etc.)
Identify opportunities for system optimization, automation improvements, and cost savings

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Controls Engineering (or related field)
3+ years of experience in instrumentation and control system design, preferably in industrial or process facilities
Strong knowledge of PLCs, DCS, SCADA, HMI programming, and field instrumentation
Familiarity with process control loops, instrumentation calibration, and system testing
Proficient in AutoCAD, SmartPlant Instrumentation, or similar design software
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
Must be authorized to work in the U.S
