Structural Engineer Nuclear
Global Edge Group is currently seeking Structural Engineers with Nuclear experience for a full-time remote position. The role involves performing civil structural analyses and design of Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures, requiring strong design skills and proficiency in structural concrete and steel analysis.
Responsibilities
Uses structural engineering tools and implements appropriate standards to design Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures including post-processing analytical results and designing structures for various material types (concrete, steel, etc.)
Interacts with other disciplines and structural engineering consultants in an effort to allow effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. Individuals should possess or acquire general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields in order to function on multi-disciplinary teams
Develops and reviews requirements documents, methodology documents, design reports, and studies
Possess strong written and oral communication skills and routinely interacts with contractors and/or regulatory bodies
Lead the oversight of suppliers and review technical information (i.e. drawings, reports, specifications, calculations, etc.) to ensure it aligns with statements of work and requirements documents
Provide mentorship to more junior team members. May be asked to take the lead in technical issues as needed
Qualification
Required
Structural Engineers with Nuclear experience
Applies technical knowledge, insight, reasoning, and decision-making to perform civil structural analyses and design of Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures
Possess a strong design background and be proficient in structural concrete and steel analysis and design
Uses structural engineering tools and implements appropriate standards to design Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures including post-processing analytical results and designing structures for various material types (concrete, steel, etc.)
Interacts with other disciplines and structural engineering consultants in an effort to allow effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems

Minimum of a BS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited school is required
Expertise with ANSYS is required
Minimum of 8 years of nuclear/non-nuclear experience as a Structural Design Engineer is required
Design and analysis of structures, including concrete and steel, use of design software and finite element method analyses
Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810
Remote position
Ability to travel nationally and locally
Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
Preferred
Prior US Commercial Nuclear experience is a priority preference
An advanced degree is preferred
A registered professional engineer license (P.E.) is strongly preferred
Working with the following codes preferred: ASCE 43, ASCE 4, ACI 349 & 318, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC N690, Steel Construction Manual and Seismic Design Manual
LS-DYNA is preferred
Computer programming skills (e.g. MATLAB, or Python) is not required but preferred
