Entry Level Mainframe Systems Engineer
General Motors is expanding its Mainframe Ecosystem team and is looking for talented individuals to join their Software Development and Platform Engineering groups. As a Systems Engineer, you will modernize the worldwide technology platform while gaining hands-on experience with impactful projects in a collaborative and Agile environment.

Responsibilities
Collaborate with global teams, communicating effectively with a positive, solutions-focused mindset
Design and build innovative solutions that address real-world challenges while ensuring quality and timely delivery
Break projects into actionable tasks, estimate timelines accurately, and deliver incremental value
Investigate issues, perform root-cause analysis, and develop quick prototypes to validate solutions
Keep your team updated through regular progress communication
Drive innovation by championing modern engineering practices such as test-driven development, continuous integration, and automated delivery pipelines
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
A proactive mindset with a drive to deliver results and improve processes
The ability to collaborate effectively and build strong working relationships
A strong technical aptitude and a desire to learn new tools, technologies, and practices
Excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic
Able to work full time, 40 hours a week
Experience in some (or all) of the following areas: Agile and Scrum methodologies
Experience in some (or all) of the following areas: Cloud computing and Virtualization
Experience in some (or all) of the following areas: Networking and Security
Experience in some (or all) of the following areas: OS and Database Platforms
Experience in some (or all) of the following areas: Programming / scripting / automation tools
Preferred
Experience in one or more of the following technical skillsets: z/OS v2.5 / v3.1
Experience in one or more of the following technical skillsets: IMS / DB2
Experience in one or more of the following technical skillsets: IBM Mainframe Product Set
