Responsibilities
Lays out work and preps materials for installation
Performs overhead and underground layout and rough-in
Terminate all types of copper cable including coaxial, multi-pair and Category 3 through 6
Measures, cuts, bends, assembles, and installs cable tray using measuring devices and hand tools
Assembles and installs relay racks, network cabinets, wall fields, and associated components
Performs fiber optic cable installation and terminations of all types
Perform structured cabling installations in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints
Correctly set up and operate copper and fiber optic testing equipment
Troubleshoots and resolves problems in structured cabling systems
Operates hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks
Performs other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor
Meets attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures
Qualification
Required
Requires basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English language skills
Must understand basic communications theory and its application to installations
Must be able to work occasional overtime as required
Licenses: Current Driver's License and must have own reliable transportation
Education: High School Graduate, GED or equivalent
Experience: MUST have 3 or more years of on the job communications work experience as well as demonstrated skills at the Technician level
