Service Technician IV

Walton & Company is seeking a Service Technician IV responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems for commercial and industrial clients. The role requires extensive technical expertise and independence in performing advanced diagnostics and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

Perform advanced diagnostic checks, repairs, and start-ups on HVAC systems, including rooftop units and associated equipment, across a range of commercial and industrial applications
Execute routine and advanced preventative maintenance following maintenance checklists, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all HVAC systems and equipment
Demonstrate extensive knowledge in advanced thermostat operations, DDC (Direct Digital Control), and pneumatic systems, performing comprehensive troubleshooting and configuration as needed
Provide detailed repair recommendations to Service Writers and customers, assisting with technical consultation for enhanced system reliability and performance
Competently read, interpret, and work from complex specifications, drawings, and manuals to ensure quality installation and repairs
Utilize a full range of HVAC tools, such as reclaimers, torches, and vacuum pumps, while following blueprints, wiring diagrams, piping schematics, or engineering specifications. Proficient in brazing and advanced installation techniques
Handle and set up step and extension ladders up to 32 feet
Work safely from heights and confined spaces
Work safely with live voltages up to 600 volts, adhering to best practices for high-risk installations and repairs
Properly handle and maintain all company-provided equipment
Communicate effectively with customers and office personnel daily
Follow all safety rules, report unsafe conditions, and adhere to company policies as outlined in the employee and safety handbooks
Provide mentorship and guidance to apprentices and junior technicians, demonstrating best practices and fostering a learning environment
Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned

Required

Valid driver's license
EPA Universal Certification
Maryland HVACR license may be required within 90 days of employment
HVAC Trade school completion and/or a minimum of 10 years of experience in HVAC service is required
Experience with complex HVAC systems, including packaged rooftop units up to 200 tons, gas heating systems, boilers, and multizone equipment up to 150 tons
Comprehensive understanding of refrigerant systems, including evacuation, recharging, and mini-split servicing
Proficiency in installing, servicing, and commissioning VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) systems
Skilled in pump alignment and installation across various types
Strong knowledge of both DDC and pneumatic control systems
Competent in trade-related math computations and troubleshooting complex HVAC issues
Proficiency with personal computers, tablets, and mobile phones for documentation and communication
