Health Education Coordinator I/II

Responsibilities
Coordinates the County Health Education Program and activities
Develops and executes short and long term goals associated with the health education program
Assures compliance with all applicable state and federal guidelines as they relate to the operation of health education programs
Administers the program by performing tasks such as research, analysis, report writing, staff scheduling, etc
Represents the program at various local and regional meetings involving matters pertinent to health education services
Determines the resources necessary to ensure appropriate and effective services
Performs additional administrative duties as may be assigned or required
Monitors programs for evaluation purposes and provides administrative support for ongoing quality assurance
Collects, analyzes and maintains program data for the preparation and updating of various program operational reports as necessary for compliance with state, federal and/or departmental guidelines
Plans, organizes and coordinates the work of assigned staff including conducting yearly performance evaluation, providing training on an ongoing basis, approving staff requests for time off and schedule changes, etc
Provides direct services and/or schedule coverage for client services as needed
Works in conjunction with departmental staff in the preparation and presentation of various community workshops regarding health education services
Participates and assists in the planning, development and implementation of a school and community based health education program
Qualification
Required
Equivalent to graduation with a high school diploma supplemented with college coursework in public health, education or a closely related field
Four (4) years of experience in a health education or disease prevention program
A Bachelor's degree in behavioral or social science, public health, education or closely related field is preferred
Six years of experience with a minimum of two years as Health Education Coordinator I with increasing lead staff duties, quality improvement and program tracking, annual work plan writing, and grant funding writing
Preferred
A master's degree in behavioral or social science, public health, education or closely related field

Paid annual leave:
Vacation: 1-5 years of continuous service: 15 working days per year; 6-10 years of continuous service: 20 working days per year; 11-15 years of continuous service: 25 working days per year; 16 years or higher of continuous service: 30 working days per year. Note - Newly hired employees shall be entitled to use their accrued vacation leave subject to totally accrued hours available.
Sick Leave: 1 day of sick leave with pay for each month of service from the date of employment. Note - Sick leave may be used upon accrual.
Holidays: 13 working days each year.
Floating Holidays: 3 working days each fiscal year. Note - Floating Holidays may be used upon accrual.
Retirement: The County is a member of the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) integrated with Social Security.
