Transport Engineer-Nokia Equipment And NSP Experience-100% Remote

TEKsystems is a leading provider of business and technology services, currently seeking a Senior Transport Engineer with strong Nokia experience for a 2-year contract opening that will be 100% Remote. The role involves designing, planning, and engineering packet-optical transport solutions, implementing migrations, and maintaining documentation for fiber networks.
Computer Software

Responsibilities

Design packet-optical transport solutions, including fiber route validation, power budgets, and OSNR margins
Perform fiber characterization (OTDR, chromatic dispersion (CD), polarization mode dispersion (PMD), splice loss, return loss) to validate optical paths
Engineer long-haul and metro DWDM/ROADM links using Ciena 6500 & photonic line systems
Deploy, test, and accept fiber spans using advanced tools (OTDR, OSA, PMD/CD analyzers) before optical commissioning
Implement SONET/TDM to OTN/IP migrations with detailed fiber health checks
Characterize and troubleshoot fiber impairments (CD, PMD, reflections, non-linear effects) impacting DWDM/OTN performance
Deploy 400G/800G coherent optics, ensuring fiber links meet required OSNR/CD/PMD threshold
Create and update service orders, circuit designs, and inventory records
Document A-Z path details, fiber assignments, and cross-connects for new services
Ensure TDM, SONET, OTN, and DWDM circuit provisioning steps are accurately recorded in MetaSolv (or similar inventory systems like Mosaic, Cramer, Granite)
Store OTDR baseline traces, fiber route maps, and optical power measurements in the system for historical tracking
Maintain fiber characterization test reports (CD, PMD, ORL) for each route
Validate fiber health data against future troubleshooting requirements
Document Method of Procedure (MOP) and Rollback Plans for all implementations
Record as-built diagrams, rack elevations, patch panel details in inventory systems
Track maintenance window activities and post-change verification reports
Produce rack elevations, fiber diagrams, and topology maps using Visio / AutoCAD
Manage circuit inventory, A-Z circuit design, and provisioning using MetaSolv Solution (MSS)
Utilize Confluence / SharePoint for team documentation and knowledge base
Use Network Performance Tools: MCP (Ciena) with exported performance & provisioning logs
Manage project workflows, tasks, and customer updates using Salesforce
